Replacement engine-Which heads did I get?

My truck is a '99 which from what I have gathered is the 4 thread in the spark plugs. The engine was replaced with a long block in Oct. of '02. Is there a way to tell what I have without pulling a plug out.

look for the casting id of PI in the head casting. thats the good/replacment heads

Check my gallery for pictures of a PI head with 4 threads and one with 8 threads. I cannot attest to the modifying number being the key.

those heads were striped not miss machined .you can see were the threads used to be.thats not a factory problem they were there at one point and not that long before it blew out from the looks

My point is that PI heads come in both flavors.

Harry, now you know why I've never spefically stated when (or if) the PI heads got the increased thread count.

I know my 2001 V10, manufactured in 9/2000, has the 7-8 threads. I looked

Without pulling a plug and checking with an inspection mirror, who knows?

Those PI heads you have in your gallery, any part #'s on them we can use to research this a little bit?

They thought they would have it finished late this evening. When I pick it up, I will get the part number that was ordered.

They finished the head installation yesterday morning but I was out of town and could not pick it up until this morning. Seems to run good.

Part numbers for the 2V full thread heads are FD2C3Z/6049/AA and /CA. I cannot tell anyone how to identify the full thread heads without pulling a plug unless the modifying numbers beside the PI designation are the key.

The Dealership did exactly as promised, warrentied everything except the drivers side head and serpentine belt, which I asked to be replaced.

I don't know what all the codes( bill, program, UDB repair, claim, concern...) mean. Perhaps there is some key in there as to why Ford paid this claim on a 78,297 mile vehicle without extended warrenty. They certainly offered no explanation to me, but I am still happy.

glad to hear you have it back and are happy with the 50/50 deal. good luck knowing you can't have it happen again.
maybe recheck the plug toque in a few k just to be supper happy knowing.

Interesting that they warranteed most of it.

I wonder if it's another "program" like what covered the cracked intake on my '96 t-bird 4.6L at 4 years old (past 3-year/36K warranty.

Post EVERYTHING on that work order
