no 4th july displays allowed?!?!?! then wait till november 7th and fly a huge USSR flag and put little Soviet flags of each republic around your house and blast the USSR hyme all day long.
That's just it, bf. His house isn't in the HOA. It's right across the street and he can do what he wants. PB's kind of like the sore thumb they can't do anything about. I bet the FTE GTG he hosted was the topic of discussion when he had it. We should have Pro and Ivan do a high rev contest with their trucks this summer.
It's your house, you paid for it with your money, and therefore I would do with it as you please. There is nothing wrong with your Christmas lighting and there had better not be anything wrong with flying an American flag. I'm sorry to hear the adjoining HOA is so anti-American/communist. It's not you, it's the members of that HOA that have something wrong with them. For starters, they really need to lighten up a bit.
WHAT!!!!!, i'm speachless. Nah, not really. I would be very suspect of anyone or any organization that would appear to be so blatently un-American. A lot of good ideas expressed in other posts. Me, i would report them to Home Land Security or the FBI, put racing fuel in their hybrids, have a raw beef eating contest on the front lawn(Vegans hate this), you get the idea. Get their e-mail adress so some of the people on this site can send them greetings and salutations.
Typical Ernie . . . stirring up trouble wherever he goes.
I'll save my fingers the typing because you already know what I'd say. It's just too bad Pro is a gimp and my truck isn't running. I'd love to mount a 10 foot flag in the back of both our trucks and come over to visit. With open headers of course.
HOA = A couple of peoples' skewed take on reality. I see it in every private organization I'm associated with - a few people think they know best even when a majority says otherwise. When you have issues with "their" rules and let them know about it, unless you have a large torch bearing mob, they'll ignore you anyhow - it's their kingdom.
Still need to head off your HOA from attempting the same thing, Ernie... and bring your torch bearing mob.
Political correctness has gotten out of hand. This is a prime example of how political correctness takes a special occasion, that all should enjoy - it's about freedom andindependence no less, and tosses it in the can because they "don't want to offend."
Offend my butt... it offends me when people tell me what to do with no real reason other than it may be offensive to others. Does it pass a common snese test? No.
You all know I fly the Stars & Stripes here every July 4th and anytime something major happens to the US.
ie:Hurricane Katrina.
I get a few comments from the neighbours but after I explain to them that Canada is so dependent on the US for Trade & Military help (presence in Iraq/afghanistan) & protection, it's the least I can do.
People usually agree and ask where they could get one as well
PB > 2?'s
1) where did you get the aerial view of the neighbourhood ?
2) have you considered turning that area in behind the house into a Ultra-display Theme Park ?
I agree with Howdy get a giant flag pole and display the Stars and Stripes. If I was truely annoyed by the HOA I would wave a Live Free or Die under it. But thats me. If they try it here I will be first on the line of home deffense against it! Neighbor hood be fore warned!
What it doesn't show is that we're one block from the top of the hill (mountain if you live in the plains), and there a 500' elevation rise in six blocks from the entry to the subdivision to the house. as Howdy mentioned- it's steep.
#2: the area behind the house is protected, but owned by the folks that have the horse ranch to the right (large building diagnoally through the woods). that's actually a riding arena and stables in the clearing. The owners are rednecks- but there are strict restrictions on what can be done with that land. Bambi and his forest friends live there.

I hate seeing places trying to ban all things American.
Thats says it right there. I'm with monsterbaby. Go big and if they want to cry about it they can move back to california. These attitudes do NOT belong in the NW.
go get Red,White & Blue temp paint and paint the stars and stripes in all lawns of the folk that have issues with that. or round-up balloons work well too :-X
HOAs are nothing but governing bodies made up of petty, vendictive people looking to impose THEIR vision of what neighborhood life should be on other home owners.
You do not have a clue as to what you are talking about. As PB stated the HOA took a vote and the restriction is what they agreed upon. The homeowners bought into a subdivision knowing that the governing board could make changes. They exercised their right to so. Apparently even giving the homeowner a chance to vote the restriction up or down.
I can guess though, that they likely barely made a quorum due to the voting apathy that infects most HOAs.
People buy a home, sign their acknowledgment and agreement that the HOA rules....never attend meetings, or board elections, or covenant discussions...certainly don't volunteer for the many committees that need guidence...then complain when something doesn't go their way.
This comment "HOAs are nothing but governing bodies made up of petty, vendictive people ..." Is about a petty and vindictive as I have ever heard. Certainly uninformed.
If the homeowners didn't want it...which no one has stated BTW, then they should have got off their collective butts and voted against it.
I don't even agree with the fact that they considered the restriction let alone voting it in but, it is their right to do so.
I do agree that PB and his family should not only turn night into day this Christmas but, do such a great job that thousands drive by to see it.
