Now that we finally have the truck on the road and making some real headway, we are looking at putting in a stereo system. After all the work we put into smoothing out the dash we don't want to mount anything there, so have thought about either the glovebox, an overhead console or hidden under seat. None of those really grab us so we are trying to come up with some other options. Anybody else do something different?

I put mine under the dash. I didn't want to put it there either after the work I put into my dash. I almost just ditched the radio all together But, that was the only place that didn't look "out of place." An overhead console is a neat idea, and there are a few members here that use them. I think the glovebox would be your best bet, and there are a few here that do that as well. I don't have one in my truck...it is smoothed over. Even all of my switches are hidden.
I am now thinking that since my head unit is under the dash, I am going to come up with a "swing-out" arm and have the ability to hide it under the dash when not in use. Then, I can swing it down when I want to use it. Oh, no...the wheels in my brain are grinding again
There are a couple of hidden audio units on the market. The turner/amp/changer are mounted remotely. Everything is operated by a remote control and a little reciever/window mounted in a kick panel or up under the dash on the firewall.
