heading out for the 4th
My gustimate is roughly 17,000 combined weight.... should look like this:
I gotta get out of this heat. Heading to Big Lake, approx 9000 feet. Should be nice.
Everyone have a great and safe 4th!!
MPG numbers and such to follow.
The truck performed great. First leg of the trip included many hill climbs, going from 1200 feet to 7500 feet. Mostly 6-7% grades. Several times foot to the floor. I never did slow below 52mph. I averaged 60-65 mph on the flats. MPG for that leg a whopping 6.2 mpg. The next leg was rolling hills 7500 feet to 9200 feet. It included about 50 miles solo. It was 9.0 MPG. Last leg was return trip. It averaged out to 9 mpg also. Only issue with the truck was leaky exhaust where the pipes join the manifolds. When cool they pufft pufft pretty good. Once warm they seal and no more issue. 2 Ford shops on 3 occasions have said "cannot duplicate" this issue.
I also would like better gear ratio, 4.30 or 4.56 would be better on the hills. There was a few times that the engine rpms and tranny got lost in limbo, running at 3100 rpms and doing 52mph floored, I was hoping for another downshift but I couldn't force it. Other times it would depending on speed and rpm. There must be that certain spot that it won't shift and I seem to find it.
