Swap Dana 60 For 9 Inch?
#17
68 Mercuryranger250, yes, I am well aware of the limitations of the GM "GovNRLock" 'Cukooclock" unit. Back in 1976, my buddy had just bought a new Chevy Blazer 4x4, and I commented how it was only spinning 1 tire, but he swore that it had a posi. We jacked up 1 rear wheel, and it spun just like an open diff, after a while with the 1 tire spinning, the Cukooclock finally started to grab, but by then it would be too late to be effective. A short time later, this was proven, when we took the Blazer off road, and got it stuck. The RR tire was spinning alone, by the time the Cukooclock finally "kicked in", the RR had spun enough to dig the truck down into the mud enough that the frame was sitting on the ground. I think that most Cukooclock `s blowing up is due to the driver being frustrated, revving the engine too high, which makes the governor`s weights, gears and shafts "overspeed", and basically flying apart. By the way, the 5 lug Dana 60 that I had was in a 67 Mercury 100 pickup. The Americans were always suprised to see MERCURY stamped into the tailgate!
