whats the difference between the stainless exhuast and the alumanized exhuast,(pros and cons of both) other than price, and what is the stock exhuast made of?? I live in the dessert so I dont think corrosion is not a problem.
the main difference is how well it will stand up to rust. if u live in a very snowy area where they salt the roads and such, then steel is your best bet as aluminum with rust out much quicker. but i if u dont have alot of snow (like u) save some money and buy the aluminum. not only is it cheaper, it dissapates heat better and there is no noticeable sound difference. hope this helped
keep it ford
Actually, the stainless will hold up better in your area too because of the corrosion from the inside out. It does get cool there in the winter and condensation forms right after start up. As long as you run it long enough before you shut it off, no problem. But if you only run a few miles then shut it down, the corrosion sets in. If you can afford the stainless, get it. If you are borderline, get the aluminized...it'll still last a very long time in your locale.
The stock systems since 1999 are 409 stainless. Ford/Dodge and GM use it to make sure on their cat equipped vehicles that the system lasts past the 100,000 mile emmissions warranty etc. Either will do well for you in Nevada, you'll find that gas systems rust from the inside out while a deisel gets coated with a nice sticky black coating that will not let it happen etc. Mosty folsk get 409 as that is comparable to the stock materials. Call us if you have any questions, we stock all the MBRP and AFE systems and will be glad to help you.
