i've got to do a little bodywork above the rain gutters on my truck. the metal has pinhole-sized rust spots coming through- what's the best way to take care of this? fiberglass? body putty? since i can't get to the backside of the metal, how do i stop it from spreading? (i don't have the equipment/know-how to cut the metal out, and replace it.)
also- i was going to take a stiff brush, and clean out my rain gutters. there seems to be a very thick layer of paint or sealant in it, which is flaking off. do you recommend some sort of sealant to coat the channel with, or just a good dose of rust converter and some spray enamel? i just need to get everything sealed well, until i can afford to have it painted professionally.
Buy some "rust" paint from POR15 or others. ghet the silver color. it is better. It will need to be top coated after 2-3 coats are applied. It will stop any rusting. if your holes are very small, it will also seal the,. If the rust is wrose, get some of the thickened paint from the bottom of the can and spresd it on. I would then use a body sealer to fill in the gutter area again. This can be bought at automoive paint supply stores. Try to get to the othet side of the metal too. Try removing your headliner and get at it that way.
