Unhappy AM/FM memory preset reset?!?

I recently had to disconnect the battery on my 1993 F150 to replace a fuel pump. After reconnecting the battery, I tried to restore the AM/FM radio to my favorite stations. No go. I select 98.5 push a select button and the radio changes the display to 87.7 and stores that frequency in memory. The manual says "the Station Memory Preset buttons will need to be reset". Anyone know how this is done?
Thanks

If I remember correctly, you need to tune to your station and then select a preset and hold the button in for a few seconds(2-5?). That should store your presets.

That's what I've been doing over and over again and each time, after selecting a station, I press a preset button and the radio suddenly changes the station to another one and saves that instead of what I dialed the radio to.

I am pressing and holding the preset button for 2 to 3 seconds and then suddenly the dialed station 'jumps' to another station on the display (or blank spot on the dial).
The manual says to reset the radio memory presets after disconnecting the battery, but doesn't say how to do it. Do you know how to reset the memory presets?

I'm with everybody else... press and hold on the station that you want saved.

Maybe try disconnecting the battery again?
