My 04 SD is killing me softly now. Extended warranty has ran out about 10k over. Now I am experiencing major overheating when towing and idling. Tow haul does not engage, my head lights turn off unexpectedly when driving, my backup sensors and powerpoint have stopped as well. My front tires were slashed and all my tools stolen. I don't have the money to fix it yet and I need my truck for work. I owe plenty of $$$ for the truck still and I have no idea how to handle the situation. A desprate cry for help......

Ya, I know that the electrical problem isent a big deal but the head gasket, fan clutch (or whatever it may be) is costly. I just dont have the $$$ so i have been gentle with my truck but its still giving me troubles. The engine work is what I am not familiar with. I have replaces the ball joints and seals. That was the easy part. i also found some performance head gasket from hypermax which are good up to 36psi. Thinking about those so I never blow a head gasket again. And trading in my truck, is not an option because i have to buy out the remainder cost (which is way too high). I feel that I got shamed into buying this truck and now im paying the price. I wish to keep this truck as long as I can.
NO chip. Completely stock from the day I got it. Checked the fuses and everything is good there. The little button the turns on the rear sensor beep turn off by itself when I put it in R and when i turn it on it stays off. And the power point I dunno. Maybe a short somewhere. My tow haul is kinda tricky to get it to turn on too. My shifter is kinda off when I put it into gear. Dosent matter what is inguaged. It stays to the right. Maybe loose from use.
I had the same problem with reverse sensors, turns out driving on gravel roads caused the wires coming from the bumper sensors to get frayed and short out which caused the sensor system to shut off but not blow fuses. I replaced wires and covered them with rubber to prevent further rock damage and haven't had any problems since. Something to think about if you often drive gravel roads.
Yes, I drive on gravel roads quite often. Actually almost every day. I know my trailer plug got damaged by rocks so ill check it out. And my truck has 180 000km. Its a work truck. I put many k on it. I found a site for performance head gaskets www.gohypermax.com. Headgaskets that are good up to 36psi. Thats plenty to chip it and not worry about blowing it again for a long time. Basically, this truck is going to be with me for at least another 5 years. And every time it breaks down, im going to replace those factory ford parts with aftermarket and performance parts. Turn it into a tank. I <3 my truck. Even though it lets me down sometimes.
my truck at 50,000 started blowing out 3 gallons of water every 150 miles on the interstate ford replaced my heads and gaskets because they know there is a prob with them i would check into that first. good luck

For sure its the head gaskets. The heads may be warped seeing that I havent got around to fixing the problem asap. Looking around to see if there is any kind of aftermarket heads (if they have to be replaced) that perform better than stock. If anybody knows, can you point me to a site? Thankyou!
