this is kd's cuz i just wanted to back him up on what he said in the gutless thread. the truck has no power it runs fine it just cant pull a load at all and thats w/ a 6spd and 488 rears. so you know its a 99 posd 450 flat bed w/ 6spd and 4.88 gears like mentioned. now no matter how i figure it this truck should out pull my little dodge 2500 cummins maybe not out accel but it should be better off the line then mine. hell i could put a brick under the throttle and still out do the truck. it should also pull better. for example a 94 dodge 3500 5spd w/ a 6 horse trailer should be out pulled by said ford w/ only a 2 horse trailer but it was not the case the dodge still won and the dodge had 3.54's. now i know ya'll think this truck has to have some problem but so ya'll know im an automotive tech and i know diesels very very very well and i have yet to see any signs that say the engine is not running right it should by all theroys win somthing but its doesn't my little dodge out does it in any way so unless there is something that should make it run like ya'll say it should then let me now. something to look at to test i can find most any problem but when none appears to be present then its hard to find a starting point. so ya'll know the truck is completly stock and serviced reguraly by me so i know the records on this truck i have driven this thing since brand new so i also know what its was like. which its performance hasn't changed. so any help in getting this thing to run ''right'' would be appreciated
Posting in the middle of the night usually brings little response. My coffee is still trying to kick in.
I only caught a portion of that other thread. If you don't have gauges to monitor what's going on, or diagnostic equipment on board (such as AutoEnginuity) to see what the engine is doing, it's going to be difficult to diagnose any problem whatsoever.
If it's not throwing trouble codes, my first guess would be a boost or exhaust leak somewhere. If you had EGT and Boost gauges, the signs would be lower boost to go along with higher EGT's. Check all intercooler boots for leaks, exhaust manifold, and up-pipes. Then look at the wastegate to see if it's holding closed. The stock wastegate is pretty weak to begin with, but when they go out they usually open up almost immediately and bleed off a ton of boost.
Other than that, without diagnostics it's pretty much a crap shoot to try and solve the problem.
what no reply everyone finaly bend to the fact that the mighty cummins reinds supreme and that its just time to accept that?
I read this foolish post last night and knew it did not deserve an answer of any kind from anyone. I belong to several sites where the above childish behavior would get you banned and sent back to a kiddie site such as myspace. Will a mod please hurry up and close this one too??
hEY Markadeck, lets go find the dodge forum where this guy hangs out and do a little dodge bashing, LOL. Oh thats right, we dont have to do much... after all, ITS A DODGE
Now that I have gotten a half a cup of coffee down I have decided maybe I can try to enjoy this childs illiterate attempt at communicating with adults. At first I wanted to deny him the ability to learn anything useful, then thought anyone that spends any time on the web and still can't spell or put a meaningful sentence together ain't gonna learn anything anyway. So we can take a little poll, yes or no, do we want to continue to giggle at this clown or not?
