I have a set of hedman Hedders that are sitting in my truck cause i never installed them, they're just painted black, and i know they'll rust pretty quickly after they get installed. What's the best way to go with them? Jet-Hot? or somthing else?
It depends on how much money you want to spend. You can have them professionally dipped (chrome, powder coated, etc....) for about $300.00
Personally, I had mine blasted, and used VHT. Spray on HP they say? There is also a VHT primer that you must use on bare metal.
Cost me $40 for the blast job, $10 a can for 2 cans of VHT Primer, and 2 cans of VHT Black. $80 bucks and a little work. Let them air dry, and then bake on the paint.
I made a foil cover for the oven with (my wife has never seen a set of headers in the oven till now....) the door open, and (turned them around a couple times) baked as directed on the can.
I think she called me a redneck, or something like that..........
The paint dried to a hard finish, and is very scratch resistant.
As far as the amount of time it will last? Dont know, but you could always do it again in a year or so for what you would spen in a pro dip.
