Congratulation!! Now you will get the truck you want, very cool. As outlined your truck will run for many many years and haul long stuff too.
Thanks 'Dave257'.,Typically, you don't see many 7' beds on the lot near my neck of the woods. I wanted a truck that would haul my 2004 Harley Roadster and be able to close the tailgate. Additionally, I've never been much of a fan of extended cabs.
jESSIE, WHAT MADE YOU GO WITH THE 3.0 ? It's the oldest, slowest of the 3 engines you can get in a ranger, but it's very reliable, and you can put alot of miles on one. i just wondered what pushed you toward the 3.0. It sounds like an awsome truck, you should enjoy it very much, good luck with your new truck !!
I'm not sure if I would have wanted the 4-banger in a Ranger that would eventually have a Harley on it.. It would be sweet if the 4.0L was an option for his Rcab.
Thas' going to be a sweet ride Jessie!... now if only I could talk myself into buying another new truck...

That 3.0 will serve him well. I've had my 98 3.0 for almost nine years now. 169000 miles on it and no major issues. Moved more people than I can remember with it. Furniture, boxes, whatever.

'wendell borror', when I selected the Towing Package option, it defaulted to the 3.0 engine upgrade. Whereas I am not going to be towing alot, I do have a 5x10 7000 lb. axle tilt trailer. I like having a class III receiver and the salesman recommended the V6 over the I4. He said he was disappointed that Ford didn't put the Fusion V6 in the Ranger for 2007.
Nice truck. I am such a fan of the 3.0 that I have driven only 3.0/manual Rangers since 1992. Its a bullet proof all-iron OHV design that will be trouble free longer than you will probably own the truck. I am not sure you can get that cab/bed combo with a manual if you opt for the 4.0 engine. Cruise control is a must if you drive a lot of open highway miles.

¿Did I meet you last week? When I was selling my 2004 Azure Blue Mach I.
Yes, a Harley, specifically a 2004 Roadster, along with motorcycle related items will find there way in the back of the truck. Also the routine every week items like hauling the trash.
This Ranger is replacing a 2005 F-150 4WD which I found to be too impractical for a 5'7'' tall guy. Heck, I could even reach over the side of the truck to get anything out. Worse, I was planning to install taller tires to fill up the wheel wells. Opening the tailgate, I still had to crawl in the back to retrieve the smallest items. What really disappointed me was I couldn't close the tailgate with my 2004 Roadster in the back due to a 6½' bed. The long bed Ranger will never have that problem.
OK, I see said the blind man to his wife who could not hear, that explains the 3.0. I think your salesman is misguided, The 4.0 is a better truck motor than the 3.0 in the fusion. I bet he was thinking about the 3.5, the fusion doesn't have it yet either, only the lincoln at this point, last I heard. Ford supose to do some hipo fusion, either svt, or st with the 3.5 in the near future.
One word of caution. You need to think about how you will Load the bike. There have been a couple of posts about the the straps on the tailgate failing when loading/unloading off of the tailgate. I think they are only rated at 300lbs. If you come up with a good custom ramp Idea be sure to pass it along to us. I am sure others will be interested.
