I have ordered a 2007 F-250 SD Lariat Supercab 4x4 with the diesel engine. I will be wanting a bed liner and possibly a cover for the bed as well. What does every one think about the spray on liners and which brand? How about the slip in liners? Finally a cover that is not a pain if needing to haul something but looks good,is fairly watertight and durable. Thanks!
I dig the spray on liners though I have a drop in. Everyone I know that has one really likes theirs. I have a Ford soft tonneau and don't care for it much. Made kinda shabby. I do like Extangs though.
Linex and Rhino are the preferred spray ins. I did my own with Hercules and it is trash, would not recommend. However, I can give my highest recommendation for a bed cover, Retrax. I have one, very easy to install. Opens and locks anywhere along the way and it tough. Here is info on it... http://www.rolltopcover.com/
Line X is a spray on that feels hard and rough to the touch but it very difficult to chip or peel up. Looks great new but gets dirty if you use your truck like a truck. Rhino feels more rubbery and is great if you are carrying smooth things that you don't want sliding around. Down side is that hard, sharp corners tend to chip and peel it up a little easier than the Line X. Both are good but question is your preference and what you're coing to use the truck to haul.

As far as tonneau covers go, it would be hard to beat the Versacover. I just bought one for my 2003 F250SD and it has all the other covers I have seen or used beat hands down. Price is right, and if you need your bed to haul anything, the cover comes off in about 5 minutes, hangs on the wall, and only weighs about 45# for the short bed unit. Look up versacover.com and take a look. Very good quality and nice folks to do business with......Dan
i have 200,000 miles on my line x without a mark on it and i haul alot of stuff in the back. for a tonneau cover i will only get a soft roll up cover like the truxedo or access. you can have the cover rolled up in about 10 seconds and they look the best because the sides are velcroed on and you dont see any bars. i can take a picture of mine if you want
For bed liners, spray-ins are the preferred type. They are there forever, don't vibrate and scratch the bed up, and then rust when water gets underneath. Those are complaints that drop-ins generate. Drop-ins are good in that they are better if you drop things into the bed, such as bricks or rocks, whereas a spray-in can let the bed dent in those cases. Drop-ins also allow you to slide things in and out more easily than a spray-in. Some folks want things to stay put, others need to slide things easily... think of your needs and wants.
Line-X is the most popular spray-in.... tougher, things slide more easily, and has nationwide liftetime warranty.
Others use a spray-in with a bed rug, to get the spray-in benefits, with the cushioning support for dropping things that a dropin offers. There is also the bed rug which is a cool option, if say you have a camper shell or don't haul dirty stuff very often.
I have Line-X in my third truck now. Has alway performed well. I don't like the Rino Liner because things will not slide at all. If you are loading things, you have to pick it up and set it where you want it. Line-X also resists sliding somewhat. However, not to the point that you can't slid cargo around where you want it. I have found drop-ins are very slipery and will rust out your bed over time.
I bought my Access Rollup cover in 1995 for a '95 F150 I had. It has since been modified on 3 separate occasions and been installed on the '95, '97, 2000, '02 and now the '04. 5 trucks and 11 years later the vinyl still looks great. Reckon I got value out of the $ 400.00 I paid back in '95.
Line-X is what I used in my last truck and I couldn't destroy it. My last two trucks have had hard tonneaus that lock or would lift off. I like that quite a bit. Aerodynamic and one big safe trunk.
Line X for spray ins, definately. One of the best on the market. Nothing I can really say about it that hasnt already been said. But the way its sprayed it why its so great. It dries in like 3 seconds so you can be spraying and jump right in the bed just after. And its sprayed hot so it doesnt build up or drip like a Rhino. My truck came with a rhino, but I really prefer Line X. I can go out there and chip and peel at my rhino with my fingernail. And I can take a sample of Line X and just sand the rhino away like nothing. Plus Line X has a lifetime warranty on the liner so if its chipped, they repair it for nothing.
Drop ins are ok but whenever we take one out, Ill be honest, they do a little damage to the bed what with the rubbing of the paint and all. And if you have an over the rail bed liner, say goodbye to your rail paint.
Other option is the Bedrug, really nice product there. I have one in mine to match my Leer top. Basically just plastic with a plastic fiber top so its not going to stain or anything. Contours to the bed very nicely. Offers a good bit of sound dampening qualities as well as some insulation for the bed. Its also great for the knees, especially if you do alot of jumping in and out of the bed. But we have had samples soaking in oil, bleach, and some other chemicals and it doesnt do a thing to it. The beauty behind the plastic construction of the bedrug makes it to where if you ever get it dirty, just spray it out with the hose or vacuum it out. I have a small auto vac I clean mine out with. LOVE the bedrug.
As far as covers go, it all depends on your taste. You can start out with a low level cover, something like vinyl and keep it in the low hundreds, or you can go to the opposite end of the spectrum and get a fully blown camper shell molded for the truck. I have the Leer 100XQ, which is Leers flagship model. With something like that, you are getting into a couple thousand. But you have a broad spectrum of things to choose from. The Undercover for example is a great thing to have if you ever have the need haul big things sometimes. It looks great, is lightweight, secure, keeps water out beautifully, and is very durable...very. But the big thing about it is that its so lightweight you can just take it off whenever you like and hang it up. Only weighs like 60lbs and 2 people can take it off when you do a few things first. Then you have Roll-n-locks, Fold-a-Covers, roll up covers, basic fiberglass lids, and a ton of other stuff. Its all dependant of your taste and how much you are willing to spend.
I have pics of the Bedrug and 100XQ in my gallery if you would like to see. I dont have that great of a pic of the bedrug, I couldnt do too much with the trailer behind the truck.
