I just picked up a 1975 F250 4x4 and the owner told me the original 360 motor was changed out to a 390, how do I confirm that this is correct?Motor vin#?
Stroke?
If you post the VIN or info from the Data plate, we can tell you what the motor was when it shipped from the factory. If you want to identify the current motor, you'll need to post some info about it.
I'm not the local expert on the 390's, but I'm sure they are around here somewhere.
well Lucky You You now get to measure the stroke of the piston.
There is NO visible way to differentiate the 2 engines .
Other than tearing it apart and identifying the parts , the only way is to *Measure the stroke*
You can use the dowel method of inserting it in the sparkplug hole and turn in the crak over until it bottoms out > Making a mark >> Turning the crank until it tops out...then making another mark .......then measure the distance .
