Please don't shoot me because this question is not for a Ford. I tried posting on the other guys site (che**) but no one responds. I'm gonna try asking here anyway because someone might know the answer. The vehicles tachometer reads 4400 rpm @ actually idle and pegs out when the engine exceeds 1200 rpm. With the key off/engine off it stay stationary at 4400 rpm and pegs when you turn the key on/engine off. All the other gauges read properly. I'm wondering what might have caused this? Can I just disassemble the tach, pry off the needle and reset it at its proper position or did something fry on the inside? I could connect an aftermarket one but I'm concerned if by leaving it be, will cause the other gauges to malfunction in the future? Sorry to ask but any replies will be appreciated.
