I was just searching for spark plugs for my V10 when i came across the lisle spark plug rethreading kit and was wondering what you guys think of it? Anyone tried it? It comes with 10 inserts but is steel the way to go or not. I know its a tired thread subject, but it might help others so im posting it. Thanks in advance for any info.
they back out also just like a plug can. there are only two companys out making a kit that does a proper forever repair . timesert and full torque the others are just a threaded plug that has no perminate way of locking into the head. as the best ones do. same with heli coils they do work but not in a alloy part as they were and are made for steel to reduce thread wear on parts that come apart a lot and save replacement costs of costly cast or forged items. heli coil used in a alum. part are worthless esp. for spark plugs.
check out full torques web site they show how a good one uses a flat on the thread top to help get a tougher and tighter grip on the alloy part where as cheaper ones pull just as fast or back out.
