I have taken my F250 6.0 Powerstroke in 2 times now and just got it out again and it's still not fixed. They have replaced sensors and turbo and fuel pump and assured me it would was fixed. I took it out on a test drive and after 5 minutes same problem. The problem is when you try to accelerate to take a hill or while pulling something the truck starts chugging like it wants to run out of fuel. Any advise would be helpful.
this is only a test to see if your trouble is the egr.shut the truck off unhook both batteries. now up by the filters is the egr unplug it,leave unplugged.wait 15 min, hook up the batteries test drive.now go threw the gears easy the first time as it is in relearn mode.now if the problem is gone it may be the egr is clogged.now if that solved the problem plug it back in when you get a chance to take it in and have them replace the egr.if not then you may have other sensor errors or check the oil level is not overfilled.
My 04 did that. And the delaer could not figure it out. This great site said they thought it was the EBP sensor (exhaust back pressure) The dealer replace this and the VGT sensor and the chugging was gone.
The dealer called today and said that it was the EBP sensor needed to be replaced they had already replaced the VGT sensor on our first trip there. hopefully this works we will see tomorrow when we pick up the truck. Thanks for the info.
zarlingo, you might want to try another dealer. I purchased my truck ('03 psd) brand new from a dealer. After 15k miles and a trip to Canada from SoCal without a problem, I took it into the same dealer for the free oil change. After the oil change, they reflashed the thing, and as I left the dealer getting onto the freeway, the truck had lost all its origial power, and it started the infamous "turbo fart". My 6 year old was with me and said, "Dad, what's wrong with the truck?". I took it back no less than 3 times to get my "old" performance back and failed, and finally decided maybe a new dealer would fix it. I found a new dealer, took it in and lo and behold, the tech reflashed it and my old truck performance was restored! Moral: Do not assume the dealer you are seeing has good techs!
