Hey guys, I just finished a 79 ford 1/2 ton supercab 4x4. I put all new suspension in and the front end is really bouncy over rough roads.(city roads). It has 4 inch springs up front with blocks in the rear with single shocks up front and 33 inch tires. My question is has anybody used the air bags that go in the coil springs or should I go to a dual shock setup. Oh yeah I am using new pro-comp 1000 shocks all around. Thanks.
Those must be some stiff springs! I have the same truck with 6" Skyjacker springs, single shocks and it rides like stock. I dont think adding shocks will help. Anybody else? Mike
has to be the springs. alot of people i know think that the shocks will make a vehicle ride drastically different. the shocks are only like 1/4 of the ride equation. check into different springs.
Yeah, actually I made a 4x4 shortbox out of a 2x4 shortbox with all half ton 4x4 stuff. The frame looks factory and there is nothing that is half-assed...built just the way ford should have done it, hee hee.
what brand springs are they?? ive heard that the superlift coils are stiffer than stock or skyjacker, maybe thats it if they are superlift. (thats why i bought mine). but if your truck is sitting in the driveway stopped and you shut the hood or rock the truck up and down and it still bounces a bunch then i know the shocks are bad. mine would bounce like 10 or more times with no shocks. if its not the shocks and your coils arnt skyjacker then you might want to invest in a couple because everyone around here with skyjacker springs are very pleased with the ride.

try upgrading your pro comp shocks to the 3000. The last set I had were 1000's and now I have 3000's. The 3000's took away some bounce since they are noticably stiffer. also check your tire pressure.
