Real or created?

Not that it matters much, but what is the consensus on this truck. I was under the impression that a big window option was only for the uni-bodied trucks, so am I misinformed (pretty used to that, married for over a quarter of a century) , or is this someone's homemade creation, looks nice in the photos. Good evening to all. ~ Michael http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964-...QQcmdZViewItem

I'm confuse as well; been marry just under a qtr of century too; I believe this truck has two add on options not avaiable for 64; I could be wrong, but the big window was 57-63; and those buckets seat look to be a Ranger package deal (1965 option). Again I'm one to admit my mistakes; but I think the difference on this one. But again it looks great....

Mitch, Ya missed the tailgate.
The window looks like a nice graft job to me.

I guess that is what ya call a custom cab.

It is a very nice looking truck. I don't think it is worth what he is asking for it, but then, it is just my opinion.
Here are some things I think are goofy with it:
The rear side reflectors are not Ford truck.
The rear lower reflectors are from a '70 - '72 truck.
The rear tail light lenses are from a later truck, the clear reverse light lense was not offered until after '66 (not sure exactly when).
The horn ring is not installed correctly on the steering wheel.
The tailgate and trim are incorrect. Nice looking, but incorrect. To my eye, the Ford trim on the tailgate doesn't seem to flow well with the trimless body.
The seats appear to be the correct Ranger seats, but the console looks like it is too long in the front, as though it came from a larger car.

Overall, it is a customized truck, and if it is worth it to you, go for it.

Ringo, Please back away from the wine bottle bro. You being Canadian, should know that Ford trucks of this ara produced in Canada all have Mercury badging.

Technically Mercury never made trucks, but Ford made Mercury trucks.

I wasn't trying to start an international incident (international as in between different countries, I ain't saying anything about Cornbinders), just thought this truck was 'funny', is all. I have seen pictures of Brazilian trucks with the lines of a unibody, but with separate cabs and beds, don't know if they came with big windows as an option or not. The Merc tailgate is way cool, is that truck a latterday big window graft as well?. Peace out . ~ Michael

LOL before we really get out of hand here

to let the cat out of the bag the Merc is mine, yes it's a Merc and yes we also had Fords in Canada at the same time.

My point was to, in a humorous way, show that this guy did what he liked on that truck, not 150 point concours restoration, but some pretty cool stuff IMO. I do what I want on mine, you do what you want on yours. (short of sticking in a Chebby drivetrain, that is just WRONG!! )

Many times I see some ugly rims or a wrong year grille or a wood box floor in a styleside Slick and I think to myself.. "what the hell were those guys thinking ?", but I am sure that applies to all of us.

I wouldn't have painted that truck purple or cut up some hood badges to make side marker lights, but this guy went thru the same pain as me to install that Uni roof.. no small beans that.
Nice truck overall, IMO.

Michael, we really hijacked your thread. Sorry about that, but that was a very good call you made to ask about that truck.
I was looking at it from the angle of "Do I want to buy this truck?"
I am suspicious of any vehicle for sale that has unusual features like the Ranger seats or other customizing - what else is there under the paint?

In RF's case, he has a very beee-yooo-tee-ful truck there, and he has customized it for himself. He isn't attempting to make it something it isn't to make a profit off of someone's gullibility. We here at FTE have seen a lot of those shenanigans before, as that e-bay truck you linked to appears to be. Notice, I said "appears" to be. It could very well be someone's pride and joy, but hard times or a death in the family are forcing a sale.

Just so you know, many of us here are good friends outside of FTE. There was no acrimony in any of our postings, just good natured ribbing. I have broken bread with John Wilkerson and his wonderful family, as well as with many of the posters here. They are all great guys! So, we kid around a lot and call each other out on goof-ups too.

While John da picker and I have not met, I look forward to riding in his 460 powered girl, "Sweet Southern Comfort" at Slickstock 2 in August.

And maybe we can not possibly be in full agreeement on every little topic, (we come from quite different cultural backgrounds), we do share a love for Slicks and are both Southerners, just on different sides of the 49th parallel

And, we both have a sense of humor, I'm sure we will be friends in person too.

The truck in question looks to me to be someone's pride and joy, sold under some unfortunate circumstances, by a third party who does NOT have a good ebay reputation. I would definitely try and get contact with the OWNER of the truck for details, not the Yahoo who is sellling it for him. If the truck doesn't sell on ebay, which I doubt if it will, then you have the actual owner as a contact. Then to swing a side deal with, should you be seriously interested in buying.

In conclusion, I would just like to point out that Picker's, my, and Jowilker's given names are all John. We are just a bunch of John's doing what best we can for Slickdom
