OK, I was searching the posts for "engine light" and was directed to this post. I too have a 2005 F250 6.0, Lariat CC LWB, just bought. My wife traded her car in for it so I could have it when I return. She is saying that the check engine light comes on and then goes off. She has it scheduled to go into a Ford dealer that we have purchased 3 vehicles from, I'll get to that, and I am wondering if it could be the turbo or the EGR, or a sensor? She hasn't said it's losing any power or anything else. The light goes on and then it will go off, not right away but it will go off. So she'll take it in tomorrow.
Now for the question about the dealership. It ony has 34k miles on it. She waited for hours at the service department only to be told to bring it back on Wednesday. Also they told her that there will be a $100 deductable??? If I'm not mistaken, it should still be under the original factory warranty, right? What gives with the deductable? I've never heard of that? We have bought 3 vehicles from this dealership. Two were brand new and one was from their pre-owned lot. Granted this truck wasn't directly from them (they didn't want to give us crap on her trade in and the "other brand" dealer right across the street, literally, had the truck and gave us a heck of a deal, almost a straight across trade for it. They had a $40k sticker on it, gave her a written agreement that if the truck had anything wrong with it they'd ensure it would be corrected, I choose my words carefully because I haven't seen the document myself. It only has 34k miles, and isn't the engine warranted for 100k miles? Can anyone educate me on the warranty situation? Any help would be appreciated.
Bumper to Bumper warranty is 3 yrs/36,000 miles, which ever comes first.
Engine warranty is 5 yrs/100,000 miles, which ever comes first. This one carries a $100 per visit deductible, but only after the 3 yrs/36,000 mile warranty is up. Meaning the 1096th day that the truck is in service or 36,001 miles on the truck, you would have to pay the $100 deductible if the problem in covered under the engine warranty.
Both times start the day the vehicle is put into service (purchased)
So in your case it looks like it should be covered under the 3 yrs/36,000 miles warranty and cost you NOTHING.
Hope this makes since

The check engine light comes on and then goes off.
There is a recall -05E15- for some 2005 6.0 to fix this problem.
Go to my ford and sign up and put your VIN NBR in and it will tell you if there is any open recalls on your truck. Hope this helps as i had this problem also.
Thanks a lot guys! Sorry I havent replied sooner, the network administrators blocked this site! Thats just unamerican. My wife took it in and they said it was the catalytic converter, but I will email her to let her know about the recall inquiry. Thanks again guys.

Right on the money! It wasn't the catalytic converter after all. They looked up the truck and figured out the recalls that needed to be done, calibrated (flashed??) and my wife picks the truck up today! I emailed her and copied your post in it. I just hope I dont have some some of the post flash and recall problems. Thanks again.
We did end up taking it to a different dealership, I guess that Service Department had done the same thing to other people who bought Ford vehicles from across the street, wanted her to sign a modification waiver. Well I guess they determined any of the mods to be the cause for any of the problems on those vehicles and stuck them with paying for it. Luckily there's two different locations in the Springs, one north and one south. We are some of their customers too, oh well the guy up north said come back anytime. Thanks again Ron W, and always to the members of FTE.
