The VIN probably only tells you what you already know. Make, model, year, and engine. If you're looking for axle or tranny codes, it's not in the VIN, but it is on that sticker you painted over.

Is it oversprayed, or did you compleatly spray over it?

overspray can be cleaned up by masking the surrounding areas, and spraying it with carb cleaner... then wipe the paint off in a min or so

For future reference go to :

www.fleet.ford.com

Then roll over the MAINTENANCE button. Then click on VIN DECODER.

Walla, bingo, no problema.

It should be a 351w not 351c unless it was swapped.

askim, since it's an '86, maybe Ford can run down the VIN on some sort of database and maybe come up with the info on that body label.

Just a thougth.
