I have noticed that my engine idle has sort of a lope to it lately. It will vary down and then back up about 50 RPM or so every 8-10 seconds. But just at an idle.
With just 20,000 miles on it I am wondering "What would cause such a thing?"
Capt ,then the reflash has changed some parameter or sensor feedback to the pcm.
have you tried cleaning the IAC on yours?
his is an 04 older than yours .

i'm not over sure about the iac but when ford did the reflash going by the tsb mine had to have the t.b. changed so i think it may be brand new unless it gets swapped out. only been about 500 miles since it was done the way i'm driving now so i have not even had the hood open yet, but when it stops raining here , 40 days and 40 nights type.
fact is when i do drive, i use the bike so i'm putting more miles on the motorcycle then the truck since it gets 4 times the gas milage . and at $3.17 a gal i have to make ends meet some how .
My '96 t-bird 4.6L liked to hunt for an idle spot before it's completed all it's diagnostic monitors. However, I'm starting to wonder if it needed an IAC
Cap, did you check if your V10 has passed all it's monitors yet since the reflash?
The truck is up at Pacific Coast Ford as I type this. The are going to have it all day as they are really busy but I will let 'yall know what the problem is/was tomorrow.
One thing, they are recommending that I change the fuel filter now at 20,000 miles and not wait untill 30K. Sound like a good idea?
Wow, you would think ford would fix that problem. I had an 88 Mustang GT that searched for idle, replaced the IAC and that fixed it, my 86 F-150 did it, and still does sometimes even with the IAC replaced. No big deal but people look at you strange when you have loud exhaust and wonder if you want to race.
Ford did not have time to get to my truck yesterday, it is first in line today however.
Yes, the idle issue will be a warranty thing, the fuel filter ($75!) is my responsibility though.
$75 for a fuel filter !!!!!!!!!! Run quick! I knew there was a reason I work on my own trucks and cars.
Yes ,interesting to say the least, with the crud in our fuel we buy now.It wouldn't suprise me if it runs much better after the filter change.

The news is that the re-flash seems to have fixed the problem! We shall see if it lasts for very long.
On the fuel filter, it was $17 for the filter and almost $50 to install it. What is required for a fuel filter change? I will most likely do the next one myself but what is involved, special tools to buy??
