TTB Alignment

SO....You guys are gonna hate me for asking an ifs question in here, i just know it

My dad has a stock 90 f/s bronco, and the front coils are getting lazy, so the tires are leaning (camber?) My question is, on these TTB axles, is there any adjustment for this? I looked under it and saw the ball joints mounted directly to the axle tubular, and didnt see any adjustment from either side. I thought I'd check though.

How's this offroad related? If I can adjust it within reason, i can drive it while i got my 76 in the garage for the tranny rebuild. Also, if the camber can be adjusted for stock saggy springs, I figure they can be adjusted for 2" taller (than stock) springs too, right? every little bit counts

The only adjustment is new springs or spring spacers. Camber / caster adjustments have to be made with a shim block in the top ball joint or by using brackets to move the center of the axle and the radius arms down. Small changes in ride height can mean big changes in the alignment. Some are able to get 1.5" - 2" of lift with springs and keep it in alignment with just the ball joint shims, it is not garanteed though. There are not many free rides here unfortunately.

You're better off just replacing the coils with new stock ones. Trying to align the TTB is an enormous pain. You can adjust caster and camber, but you can't adjust one without throwing the other off.

Do a straight axle swap, that'll solve all the problems.
If the tires are leaning noticably, the shims won't help, they are only a few degrees. New springs help much more, but for the first six months or so, it'll wear the outside of the tires until the springs settle in.

if his current tires are already worn on the inside, then itll even out and it will be right where it should be

you might have play in other parts that are contributing to youre problem you might want to check youre axle pivot bushings and all ball joints just for good measure !

Replace them old springs with a set of progressive rate ones through napa (we bought a set of just a hair over 100 canadian through napa), in the top balljoints some beams have a machined bushing that adjusts the camber/caster, its just a pices of round bar with an off center hole drilled in it (my flareside has this, and we had to get some new ones machined up to compensate for the 2" drop i put in it), if you truck has this its easily adjusted, but weather you'll get it right is a shot in the dark.

If you want to save some coinage, you can go find some 3" washers and make makeshift shims to go under the lower spring perch for now. TTB's are known to sag like that.
