Heater Door HELP

85 F-150 4 X4 heater. Door that controls Floor/Def & Panel has come off hinge or hinge has broken. Door operates between the two if you turn off engine, put fan on hi, temp on cold & A/C switch to off. Then start engine, slide A/C switch to Def. quickly, then it will switch to Def. You can put it to panel anytime. How much trouble is it to get to this door. I think the heater box is two piece. Can the bottom be removed? This is my daily driver. Haven't had a chance to look at it. (Working 16 hours a day, 6 days a week). Any one worked on heater box??????????????????

On my '84 F-150 2wd, it wasn't too bad. I removed the whole dash and split the box and replaced the door/hinge assembly, bought it from the local Ford dealer for something like $20 or $30. If you take your time and have some patience, it's a fun project. Sure is nice when it works correctly.
