Al that is a great question for the Suspension Tires & Wheels Forumn. Would you see if you can get help there. That one was set up for your question and to releive the load here.

Most guys here don't care for lowering trucks.

LAST EDITED ON 29-Nov-00 AT 10:47 PM (EST)[p]TruckTV just did a special on the drop and conversion of a 66 F-100 this last weekend. It was a re-run but still pretty interesting. Their web site is trucktv.com . its a pretty good website but could be a lot better. I imagine that the swap would be about the same.

Drop I beams

Bigal72, We have been having so much fun with this subject lately. Read the posts from about a month ago on this subject. There are several manufacturers of dropped I Beams and some readers did have negative comments about a company in Arizona, (don't know the name). I personally would go with 60 series tires, maybe cut one coil, and flip the rear spring main leaf. What about this DJM perch and shackles?

remember , you would have to get shortened coil springs along with the I-beams for the front ( unless yours are leafs, the de-arched).. try the cheap clamp on style spring compressors first , see if you can stand all the shock first

JUST A SUGGESTION

Shouldnt have to get shorter springs at least I didnt when I did mine. If you use the coil compressors it will mess up you alignment. the front tires will look like this / \.

I have a 1974 f100 short box with a 460. I used a djm kit front and rear. I used their round i-beams in the front with the stock spings and it works great. I do have to get different shocks for the rear because the stock ones bottom out if your towing
