Well, another excursion to Boy Scout summer camp has come and gone, and ol' Grover successfully carried our troop's gear there for the second year in a row. I'm thinking maybe I ought to paint something on the hood, like WW2 pilots did each time they made a kill.
I had 2 big family gatherings over the weekend, one for the wife's family and one for my side. I drove my truck to both of them and spent quite a bit of time giving the little kiddies rides.
It sure felt good to see the looks on all the faces of the doubters who have been poking fun at me for years for laboring on an old piece of junk (thier words, not mine)
sounds like it was fun, any up to date pics of Grover. I haven't seen him in a while. This summer I hauled mulch, brush, today got tables at the church for my wife's yard sale. Yes, I am getting some scratches and chipped paint, but it a lot more fun using my truck than just saving it for Sunday afternoon drives. Old Betsy has a job this fall. It is in a wedding!

Man, driving is fun!

I had a good time a couple of years ago when I drove my truck to the family reunion on my Mom's side. It was my Mom's Dad (my maternal grandfather) that I bought my truck from. It is a 150 mile drive. All my cousins and uncles and aunts were glad to see the Old Ford Truck. We took lots of pics with cousins and thier kids and Uncles and Aunts by the truck. Heard some good stories about the truck that I would not have heard if I hadn't driven the truck. Didn;t go last year and the year before that it was too hot and humid for a drive so I am due this year.
Wooohoooo!!!
That is what its all about!! Getting out there and having some fun. That is really neat that you have so much family history with your truck.

abe
No recent pictures, Abe, though not much has changed in Grover's appearance, since I haven't been able to do any body work. I probably ought to take some pictures, though, and it just happens I still have a few pictures left on a roll of film!
The biggest difference is the appearance of the engine bay. When I overhauled the 239 I painted the engine (except for the valve covers) and engine bay. The engine is Cummins yellow, which is a tad brighter than the yellow paint the engine ought to be.
