I read here that most bolts on beds have to be cut off. I cleaned and lubricated my bolts and was able to wrench all but one off. The last one was at the front of the bed and right behind the driver's side. This one had the phillips type head and no regular nut at the other end. There was no way to get a wrench on it. I used a grinder and made some flat areas on the head and then used a chisel and hammer (big ones) to force the bolt to turn. Worked well and was relatively quick. Hope this helps someone.

I did just the opposite. I used my impact air gun and loosened till they came off. I would think that if you turned counter clockwise they'd either come off or break but it'd be better if they just came off. Miine did. But that last one was a different sort of animal. Nothing to put the socket on. I think mine came off because I cleaned them then soaked them real good with WD 40 the day before. Or,,,,,,,,maybe I just got lucky.
I read a thread here that said cut them with the torch. I was afraid I'd screw up my bed in the process.
i have never had a problem removing bed bolts unless 1 of 2 things happen, either the bed is so rusted the bolts just spin. if thats the case torch 'em! or on the newer trucks, note sure of the years, but i had a 93, and 6 of the 8 bolts were not square shank, they were oblong, kinda like an egg, and they just bend the mounting holes in the bed and spin. then you have to grind the head down so it has 2 flat sides, and lock your vice grips on with a pipe on the handle (or a helper to hold them) and then they will come off.
