advancing timing?
I have a '96 bronco with a 351 and was wondering if I were to advance the timing a smidge if it would help with a little more performance or is it pretty much controlled by the computer?

There is a marginal improvement by setting the base timing a degree or two ahead of the recommended 10* BTDC with EEC-IV controlled engines (about 11-13* BTDC). Your '96 is OBD-II and I am not aware of any changes, good or bad, that changing the base timing might have on the setup. Keep in mind that OBD-II were all mass air injection and the ONLY TRUE sequential-port fuel injection ever offered in the Bronco. The computer has better control over both spark AND injector timing/pulse width than with any other setup ever offered in these trucks.
If you DO opt to monkey with the base timng, make absolutely certian you follow the procedure listed on the underhood decal to the letter. Failure to do so can result in terrible, performance and damaged sensors.
