I just replaced the batteries in my '00 F-250 7.3 diesel. I now have no starter cranking. I suspect the alarm because it acted very strange after my first drive after replacing the batteries. This is what happened. I drove a short distance and everything seemed fine. Upon exiting the truck, I hit the lock button and did not get the two "chirps" that I am supposed to hear to confirm arming. Well I really didn't think too much about it at the time, as long as the doors were locked, which they were. When I returned a few minutes later, I hit the unlock button on the fob and all hell broke loose. The alarm sounded, the lights went off and I couldn't get the thing to quit. I then made the mistake of hitting the panic button since nothing else was working and that just made things worse, the horn now joined in on the party and for the next several minutes the rang out. Finally it stopped and I then hoped to leave the parking lot after all this embarassment. But low and behold, no starter. I tried pressing the overide button hidden below the dash but nothing. After several tries I decided to disconnect the batteries and waited a few minutes. After re-connecting, the alarm seemed to work okay, the chirps were synchronized with the door locks and the valet button seemed to work, but still no starter crank. I finally called AAA and had the beast towed home. I disconnected the batteries and let it sit all night. But after re-connecting them this morning, still no starter.

The alarm system is a Ford System 3/4.

Can any of you electronics/alarm gurus give me any advice?
