You could rebuild one for $17,000 and know what you get.
The reserve not yet met on the $17,000 worries me too. How much is the reserve? Crikey!
It's missing the Ranger XLT badges on the passenger side, that goes below the rear marker light. If I was to pay $17,000 I'd at least want it to be complete.
Oh, and it has a drivers airbag? Whuey??? Surely a typo?
I could see this truck going for $3000-5000 to someone who really wanted it. What is the highest sale price of a 90% stock 73-79 truck you guys have seen lately? Mine was a 79 F150 4x4 460 9" lift and 40" tires beautiful paint and lots of goodies for $14,000. That was a deal for what you got. Ive certainly never heard of anyone buying a 2wd truck in any condition for more than $8000. The seller might have over $17,000 invested but you rarely ever get your money back on a restoration project.
What the hell classifies as a "big cab"? my 78 looks no different, well maybe the update to a cd player and bucket seats.I couldnt fathom spending 17K on it, at most I would shell out 6. Its 30 years old! I will give the guy props with his pride
of it however. But I still think he needs to check himself into Betty Ford
In case anybody is crazy enough to be considering the truck I would happily sell mine for 1/2 the price. I don't have an air bag but I'd be willing to tape a ballon to the steering wheel to close the deal
Yeah, Big Cab? They are the same from 73-79. Not even an underhood photo. Supposed to be a 390 4V. Here is the NADA value for the truck. He's a bit off base in his pricing.

What's even more humorous is that he refers to it as "an antique". Since he claims to be the original owner, I would say by the price that he doesn't want to part with it.
Could someone explain to me what All Original means?
I never have understood what it meant, but to me it means the vehicle appears exactly as it did when it was new... without a bunch of add-on stuff through the years.
Could someone explain to me what All Original means?.
how can you claim it is all original, then say rebuilt engine, new carb, new radiator, new tires,ETC. if it is rebuilt and new parts put on it, it is NOT all original.
and what is up with the last of the big cab bs?? the cab on that is smaller than the cab on my 88, and that is smaller than the cab on the new trucks.
i think someone should take his crack pipe away for a few days.
That's what I was thinking on the "all original" idea. I also don't think the dual exhaust, bed bars, and tool box would qualify as "all original". He also has something hanging under the dash it appears.
There is a guy with an exhaust shop near where I live who just inherited a '63 BelAir that I consider to be all original. It has the factory paint in excellant condition. I can't tell if the tires are still factory or replacements, but they are bias ply's just like what came on the car, and look VERY old. It was his uncles and has been stored forever... he took it out of the shed and it runs great.
