anyone else had any problems with an airbag light. my wifes 04 model has abouy 44,000 miles on the clock and it now has an airbag light which flashes sometimes rapidly and sometimes intermittently. wondering if its anything which might have had a tsb out or anything, i'm no longer working for Ford so i cant hook it up myself and i cant afford to get the piece of crap hooked up at this point in time as my wife is starting to go to school and money is abit tighter. if anyone can help i'd appreciate it, i just wish she would have got a little danger ranger or something this escape has been on big pile since she got it, multiple exterior noises that are not your normal escape noises, went through a cv already, hub bearing went out, ac compressor, and a couple other things.
You can search the forum and find a few discussions on the airbag light. My first Escape had the issue and several others found the same "fix". They used cheap connectors for the seat sensor. The most problematic connector is on the front passenger seat on the inside rail towards the back bottom of the seat. You should find a white connector underneath. Disconnect, clean the connectors, straighten any bent wires and reconnect. This usually solves any problem until a back seat passenger shoves their size 13 feet under the seat.
If you're afraid the airbag might deploy, disconnect the battery first. Since this is just a seat sensor used to determine whether someone is in the seat, this shouldn't be an issue but a few have argued otherwise.
A couple days after buying mine, I threw my litle tool box underneath the passenger seat. THe next time I started it up, the light went on. Well, the reason seems to be the sensor plug under the front inner rail of the passenger seat. I unplugged it, and replugged it together and good as new. Last time I pulled out the tool set and put it back, same thing, except the lgiht went off by itself. Seems to be very common. I'm not sure if it's the best policy to just wiggle it or reconnect it, but it works, and hasn't shone the light since. Obviously it's very sensitive to movement.
