Pothole Maintenance

2006 Escape, 6 cyl.
Took it in for "pothole maintenance" with symptoms - pulling to the left and left front wheel nibble. The dealer called advising replacement of left side outer tie rod end and front end alignment, which was completed.

Got it back supposedly fixed (you're all set, pay the cashier), took it for a test drive, and there was no change; it still pulled to the left and had wheel nibble. Brought it back and test drove with the service manager, who confirmed the problem, and recommended bringing it back for further diagnostic. If they still can't identify the problem they want to bring it to a body shop. This is where they've lost me.

Questions: How does one routinely troubleshoot pothole induced problems? Isn't this a routine process? What equipment is needed that they don't have?

Not sure what "nibble" is, but they are probably going to put the vehicle on a uni-body jig (at the body shop) to see if anything is bent.

You may want to check the front stabilizer bar links. I just had mine replaced and it took care of a shudder and rebound problem. These are relatively cheap and easy to replace. The dealer I apoke to stated that these usually go bad about 40-50,000 miles. I am no mechanic but I hope this helps.
