landscaping help

So my roommate is trying to figure out what is the cost per hour that the average landscaper charges. She is looking to hire someone to do the work, but doesn't want to get ripped. Any ideas??

and please don't tear me a new one if this has already been asked in a different thread. I tried to use the search function but it wasn't workin for me.

That's going to depend on who you hire, weather an illegal or a one that owns his own business with all of the licenses and certificates.

Also in what part of the country.

A buddy of mine in Marin County charges $35.00/hour.

Maybe look in your local newpaper or ask neighbors.

I use to own a landscape company and it depended on if it was maintenance or new installation.

Get several bids for the work you will need and ask for references.

It is new installation. There was a fire in the field behind the house, and burned(heat mostly) all the trees and shrubs and killed everything off. I believe she is looking to pay her friend to do it, but she wants to know what is fair. We were guessing between 25 and 40 an hour(for a licensed pro, making a profit). I think she is looking to pay him 15 an hour or so.
