steering box

whats up fellas i have a 1997 f350 crew cab longbed diesel 4x4 with 144k miles with a 6 inch skyjacker lift and 35s. had the lift for 4 years no probs.yesterday while backing the shaft that comes out of the steering box to the pittman arm snapped.im getting the box at the dealer ,what am i looking at to change this?also the pittman arm will be replaced how do u line up the splines between the box and the arm?straighten the wheel and attach the two?or alignment?im not to familiar with steering componets.thx guys

Just gotta disconnect the steering shaft from the box and unbolt the box from the frame.

I haven't had a pittman off in a few years, but I think there is a blind spline. i.e, it only goes on (correctly) one way. Adjust the collar on the drag link to center the steering wheel.

I think your right cookie every pitman arm I ever had off except for the real old stuff only goes on one way.

on that steering box--the arm will go one of 4 ways--and some earlier also--
