I have an 03 4x4 with 72,000 miles on it. I installed a K and N filter recently and average 14.5 mpg with mixed city and highway driving. If I am on a trip with all highway traveling I can get 18 mpg at 70 mph. Just an FYI...the engine and tranny are great but have replaced fuel pump, tie rod ends, u joints, front and rear fan motors and now have an unkown clunking noise in the rear end.

it's all going to depend on what engine you have, what gears it has, what kinda driving you do....
I have a '99 with the 5.4L, 3.73 gears and A4wd. In daily driving (about 70% city, 30% freeway) I get around 12-13 mpg. That includes a fairly steep hill up to my house. In pure freeway driving I can get as high as 18-19 mpg but that's about it.

whats the gear ration on your 01 eb? im thinking about purchasing an 01 but i dont want to suffer with gas because im doing great now.

I have a '04' 4X4 with the 5.4 & 3.73 gears. During my weekly commute of 50 miles each way (both city and interstate), and daily client visits during the day I get a solid 15.5 mpg's. When traveling, I get 18 mpg's @ 73 mph.

98 expo 4.6 was geting15 in town 21 interstate for some reason 10 in town is the best i get . just had new transmision put in they say that is nit the reason can some one help. my email add is pgil1@austin.rr.com

Due to rotator cuff surgery, my wife drove our '03 Navigator 4x4 from Durango to Cortez, on to Telluride and we stayed in Redstone. Mileage was 18.1 MPG. On to Basalt, Aspen and Carbondale over Monarch Pass. Drove home over Red Mountain, Coal Bank and Molas.
Overall MPG average was 17.2. On my best day going down hill in neutral, I can get 15 MPG!
