General Grabber AT2

Has anyone used the general Grabber AT2 265/70/17?

Was wondering how they ride as well as wear and traction from someone who actually has used them.

Thanks

I would suggest to stay away from them. I am a tire dealer and see these junky tires coming back a lot. They tend to blow the belts very fast. Spend the extra money and get a different all terrain tire.

What would you recommend I get? I am looking to keep the same size or even go to a 265/65/17.

Any Ideas?

I just put some Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's on my truck...got em for bout 1100 bucks intalled...they ride great and quiet and also are good in the rain and on dry pavement...I had a bad exp with Bridgestone Duelers before as the tire feathered within a month and they blamed my shocks...(which were less than a month old) btu theyt were low grade tires...But upon going to another dealer he showed me the Revo's and they look tough...and ride great..he even let me take out his truck to see how they felt, I was impressed and loved em...also I have had Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires on my truck for the majority of its life...and they lasted a long time considering the abuse I put them through...I would not deviate from either of these brands specifically...even if i was paid...that being said..I'm sure there are tons of great tires out there from different makes..but my exp has been with these two... I find on the freeways...like the 401 here in Toronto that have ruts and grooves throughout from the tractor trailers...you have next to no side wall sway which makes the truck ride the rut and pull you side to side...the other cheaper Bridgestone duelers I had were terrible for that...I would catch a rut and ride it into the next lane unless I cranked the wheel...So I guess it is the grade of tire purchased more so than the name brand....Even porsche made the 924...so all companies are capable of making crap.....

I have Bridgestones Radial Long Trail T/A right now and have had nothing but problems and this is the second set. I have had what looks like a dimple pop out the side wall, also the traction on wet roads could be better for the price.

I believe you with that....my last set of Bridgestones were useless....but these new ones...I have had for a few months now and have been pleased as I can get with them....though they hopefully are coming off when I get the 20 or 22 inch summer "pimp" wheels....but till then they accent the look of the truck well and at the same ride and hold the road beter than any of my previous tires on this truck....

I currently have the BFG AT's on my truck and love them. They are quiet on the highway but will not let you down in the dirt. Another thing is my first set lasted me 50,000 miles and I don't think that's to bad for an All Terrain truck tire.

BFGoodrich makes Long trail T/A's and I have about 35,000 miles on mine and they still have over 1/2 tread. I have had no problems with them. The factory BadYears only lasted 36,000 miles. Sam's has a great deal on the BFG's.
Ford used the Long Trails as OEM tires on many vehicles.
I will definately buy another set if these ever wear out.
Mine do great in the rain and snow too. I also have 265/70 17's

I've got the BFG Long Trail T/A's on my truck too. Replaced the Crapyear RT/S that had broken belts. I've driven in some heavy rain with them, no problems. Extremely quiet and work well off-road. 265/70/17.

My truck came with B. F. Goodrich Long Trail T/A, P275/60R17 when new. These were good tires but I didn't keep them rotated and had to replace them after 40k miles. I now have Big O Big Foot A/T Sport Touring SUV P275/60R17.
I could have gotten the OE tires but, the Big O tire is a better looking, higher rated, has a much better warranty, free rotation and balancing, and all of this for not much more money. They are quiet on the highway, have good wet traction. To put it simply I am very satisfied with them. $740 for the set.

I ran BFG's on Jeeps for years. I got more miles and better snow traction in Dunlop Rovers for less money though. The Bridgestone Revos are really nice, but due to Massachusetts roads and lack of regular rotation, I only got 38K out of them. Also they were the best snow tire I have had for an A/T.

I replaced the Revos with a set of Toyo H/Ts. More of a highway tread, since I have a 94 Corolla that sees the salt. The jury's still out as far as treadlife, but they grab the road much better. My 2 cents...

I was just wondering if we heard anymore about the General Grabber AT2 265/70/17's? I need to get new tires before my Good Year Wrangler ATS fly apart. I did a comparison at Tire Rack with the Genral's and the Bridgestone Revo's and for the price I could save about $183. My local dealer wants $677 for the General's and $860 for the Revo's. Anyone tried the General's?

I replaced my GoodForAYear ATs with ProComp MTs. Great tires. Pretty quiet for mud tires. I went with 33x12.50R17s. They fit with no problem. Also bought new wheels... A/R Diamond Lock II. The ProComps are great for everything. Smooth on the highway up to 75MPH. After that and they tend to vibrate. What can you expect from mud tires.
