I just ordered a BTS converter and valve body, but of course I then had to order a chip from Jody Tipton FIRST so the valve body would work right . I also have the same Edge box you do.. From what I understand if you do the converter, valve body, and trans cooler you should be good.
BS. The VB and the PCM can work seperately. You just wanted to get both. I know because I...... er, read it somewhere about PMS.
Jody's tuning (pcm) and Brians Valve body compliment each other very nicely, both have worked together to come up with some superb products. That is why they are recommended going together. Can be done seperately, but best results from what I gather is to do both at once.

All true. However, I did the BTS VB first and then the DP-Tuner because I wanted to make sure that if I screwed something up I can more easily trace it down. I took 3 steps. BTS VB, DP-Tuner programmed PCM for 60HP tow tune and finally BTS Trans because my 01 trans had a bad diode.
BTS VB made the truck feel good. Not great but good. DP-Tuner PCM made it feel even better. BTS Trans, well, lets say that if I had to do another truck, that would be how it was done.
BTS VB didn't cause the trans to break. It was caused by Ford. It was that diode thingy. Trans shop told me it probably locked up and so did the trans tech at the Fraud Dealership I know very well. Anyways, I just told Brian that it locked up and wanted an autopsy so that whatever caused it to screw up wouldn't do it again. He took it apart, told me what symptoms I should have seen, all before I told him. He assured me that while his trans can fail, it wouldn't be doing it the same way because he took out that diode and replaced it with a 45 element sprag. At this point, the trans moves like Fraud should have done it but didn't. Nice solid shifts but no so harsh that it shakes the trailer around shifting. Can't say enough good things about BTS
Yes, very good advice, one step at time makes it much easier to identify any unforseen problems.
The reason I did it is that Jody's chip would do stuff to the trans and shifting. So, if you did all at once and a problem arises, how do you know whether it is the PCM or the VB? This way if you do the VB and have a problem, you know that you proably did something wrong, forgot to put those "extra" parts back or whatever.
so if I do the jody's pcm do not use the edge I just bought? What ar the symptoms of the diode going bad on the 01's as mine is a 01.
I'd return the Edge if I could.
Symptoms? I'll give you symptoms. It was normal. Went from 1 to 2 and it was fine. Went from 2 to 3 and it felt like someone had slammed the E brake. Car felt sluggish. Note, temp never went past 210 at the test port but the fluid was burnt to black within a mile. We are talking of Amsoil fluid here not some cheapie napa stuff.
