Time fer a Tune-up???
Have reached a fuzzy point in our relationship. In the last couple of days, it feels kinda sluggish starting up, idling high, sounds like some straining of some mechanical function... until it falls into the next gear.
Only variable that I can think of is the A/C which I am using for the 1st time on this 1999 truck with 230,000 miles.
It kinda feels like it did last March - just before the Water Pump blew.
The only other feeling that I can recall was a couple of years ago when the fellow I bought it from (and I) were driving across country and two Fuel Injectors had to be replaced... but I was too unfamilar with "trucks" to be able to notice any sound... but my friends did.
Sounds like a visit to the Ford Dealership for another skinning???
Thanx

yeah, i think it is time for a basic checkup. start out by changing the fuel filter, air filter, and engine oil and filter. the cause my just be old oil, and it foaming up and getting air into the injection system.
if that does not fix it, then it may be clogged vent lines in the fuel tank, not letting the atmosphere push on the fuel, making it harder for the fuel pump to pull fuel out of the tank. reach up on top of the tank, there is a vent at each end, and pull the hose off. clean out the line on each end, and then reinstall it. if you pull off a line and hear a sucking sound for a few seconds, that is good, you are fixing the problem.
I'll give that a shot.
But I did have an Oil/Filter change a scant 2,000 miles ago... my impression that a 6 year old truck with 230,000 miles can get by w/o a oil change for every 4,000 miles???
