Truck questions?

I was thinking of getting a truck. Probably a 97-99 f150. Im not sure in which direction i would go with it. Either 2wd or 4wd. I was wondering what mods could be done to the engine and about how much horse power it would put out in the 2wd model just by spending around $2000.
Thanks

99-2003 have PI heads and have more power from the get-go. I have a Diablosport Predator tuner and it makes more power. CompCams has larger camshafts and there are 75mm throttlebodies, good headers and cat-back exhaust systems available too. 4.10 gears will really give it a boost in acceleration as well.
