mustang tank conversion help!
I just finished the conversion to the 1970 mustang gas tank I have the filler neck rubber hose but what are you guys who have done this using for a filler neck. All the necks I've seen are from 1"-2". The tank needs a 2 1/4" filler neck I was going to go with the mustang filler neck however it has a 90 degree bend at the neck. Does anyone know of a vehicle that has a 2 1/4" filler neck?

I'm probably not going to be much help because I had a radiator shop relocate the fill neck on my Mustang tank so it would be centered on the bedwood and not in the metal strip. When I did this I used a SS deck type marine gas filler and had the radiator shop match the OD of the marine gas filler, then used a piece of hose and clamps to connect. If you use a non-vented cap (like the marine filler) be sure to add a vent to the tank. There is a picture in my gallery under "Updating a 56".

i searched ebay and found a neck for a mustang. it had the bend i cut the bend out and welded the two back together to get one straight one. then connected the metal filler neck to the tank using a rubber fuel hose. worked great.
