Hello to all, I'm having a small problem with my brakes on my 2wd 85 F-150 with a 302 automatic. Basically when i hit the pedal it goes to the floor with no resistance until about an inch from the floorboard. When I don't have my foot on the pedal there is an air leak from around where the rod goes through the firewall. After all the searching I have done, it appears that I have a faulty brake booster, and I would like some input before I spend the $150ish on a new one with a new master cylinder as well. Just to throw another thought out there, could a master cylinder rebuild kit possibly fix this problem?
I have to same problem with my F250.I called Oreillys for another power brake booster with a master cylinder.Mine leaks between the booster and mc and what I have been told the diaphragm ruptured.O'Reilly Auto Parts qouted a price $109.99 that was the cheapest I could find.
BTW Welcome to FTE,alot of nice people here and loads of info.

Thanks for the welcome, I've acually been around here for about 3-4 years now from the early days when I had my old 79 F-250 4x4 supercab. I just got my 85 about 3 months ago with 94,xxx miles on it for $1000 from the original owner. Anyway, I acually know how to use the search function so I don't repost the same thing as someone else, but this one stumped me a little and being military I try not to spend more money than I have to seeing I don't get that much anyway. Buy the way, we don't have an O'rieleys around here that I know of do they have a website you can order from that you know of? Shipping would probibly bring the cost up to about the same in the end though.

No nothing yet, had a family emergency and have ben gone for a little while. Either tonight or tommorro I will be going to autozone and picking up the parts. I think I'm just going to get the master cylindert/ booster combo and see how it works. I'll let you all know.
Be sure to "bleed it" on the bench (with master cylinder level horizontally) prior to installation so you get all the air out. Instructions with unit should provide details.
Thanks for the info, but i just picked up the one with-out the m/c so I don't have to fiddle withe the brake fluid at all. I also picked up the upper and lower ball joints, rear wheel bearings/seals and a center drag link. I have alot of fun ahead of me if it will ever stop raining here in Virginia.
