F250 stalling out - help

My Ford f250 V10 is stalling out - at idle and at stops. Have to keep one foot on brake, one on gas.

We have changed the CPS - checked the IAC today and it is good. Took it to Auto Zone and no codes showing up. Cannot afford to nickel and dime this thing...any suggestions?

When was the last time you filled it up with gas? Maybe the gas that you got does not have the fire! In other words maybe the gas that you got was old!

I'll second that reply about the gas. It's happened to me several times on both my 99 and 02. I always carry drygas in the truck, seems it always happens when out of town especially down in NC visiting my daughter. Just try buying drygas in the south! Bring your own as they say! That 38 gal tank might need 3 bottles if you got a bad batch just to get you humming?

Thanks for the hint! come to think of it, I had just gotten a tank full prior to this problem. Will try that in the morning. Thanks again.

You may want to change your fuel filter too.

How did you chk the IAC ?
Did you clean it or just bench test it?
Prior to this situation did it :
When you first start the truck in am does it hunt for a Idle ?
The most common problem is the IAC
It could be the TPS sensor or the maf sensor
But should be throwing codes for them
The IAC doesn't throw a code.

Uhhh...dumb question. What is the IAC? I think I may have run into this problem before but it fixed itself after warming up(aprox. 3-5 minutes). Figured it was due to the weather drastically changing after parking it that morning. BTW, Is there a thread related to the different acronyms???

IAC -idle air control
TPS -Throttle position sensor
MAF-Mass air flow sensor

Most manuals have these explainations
somewhere online do a search on OBDII

bringing this post back to life. my trucks doing the same thing put in drive or reverse and it stalls out, idle is ok and the power seems to still be there except taking off... already had a vacuum test done and fixed a leaking pcv valve on left side (was getting codes for p0174 lean bank 2) fuel filter doesnt even have 1000 miles on it, cleaned throttle body and mass airflow sensor today and that didnt help. was told it could possibly be Throttle position sensor but im not sure.

truck is a 2000 f-350 v10 w/ no mods except drop im k&n filter.. problem seems to get worse as truck gets warmer... im out of ideas and neeed any help..

V10 huh? I had an issue on my EB Expedition where it would stall out at red lights, but was fine when driving. Trace the vaccum lines from PCV value to the end. On the 5.4L the lines had rubber connectors on the end that would crack and you would not get good vaccum. Feel the rubber connectoers with your hand and if they are brittle or crumbly you should replace the lines.

I have a 1990 f250 that runs fine for about 3-5 miles, then stalls. After resting for a few, it starts right up and does the same thing again. Runs fine when running, after resting starts right up. New distributor and ignition coil. New computer, but installed before I bought it. Front tank only. Won’t run on rear tank, both full of gas.
