Rev Limiter

Stock truck with manual transmission and no chip. Does the PCM have a rev limiter built in and if so what is the RPM?

TIA!

What, you haven't found it yet?

It should be right at where the red line is on the tachometer... I believe it's right at 3400 RPM. I don't THINK it varied from year to year, but I could be mistaken...

Not sure if I found it yet. LOL!

No, I think I'll keep it. I'm not that hard on my truck but every now and then you got to blow black smoke on somebody. LOL!

Thanks

factory powerstroke rev limiter is 3400 RPM. it can run all day at anything below that, it won't hurt it. it is not adjustable without modfied programming.

it is also 93 mph with stock 235's and a 3.73 on my 2000. That is a lot less than 3400 rpm.

is this correct?

Each state/county is different, most if they test diesels it wont matter on the rev limiter or how many mods you have on it. They just want you to come down and hand over more money.

In AZ they check to see if the rev limiter is working, if so go to the front of the line and you pass. The pain in the *** part is you have to take the letter and go to DMV to get tags. beats having to worry about passing.
