Angry Push rods different sizes??

I purchased a rebuilt 390 from Checkers, first mistake, it had two different size pushrods through out the valve train. They were marked so I could keep them in the same place.
The engine has been running fine (7000 miles) until last month when it started idling poorly. It turned out to be a bad cam.
I replaced the the cam with an RV cam, installed everything back the way I took it off but it would never fire up. I checked the compression and was supprised to find I had nothing in #1 and #5, didn't check the others.
Not sure what to do, so I installed OEM pushrods, thinking that maybe the valves weren't closing, shot in the dark. The OEM's were shorter than both the other ones that came back from the remanufacturer.
The engine started up and is running, but it lacks power, now I'm concerned that the valves aren't opening far enough.
How do I determine what pushrod should be used?

everyone on this forum seems to have a different opinion on how to determan push rod length, but the correct way in my opinion can be done by collapsing the lifters and measuring the gap between the valve tip and roker arm.. .050 -.200, and using longer or shorter to obtain this
