Backfire!
Yesterday morning I was camping with my family in Rocky Mountain National Park. At 7:00 in the morning I went to fire my truck up. First attempt, just cranked and cranked, smoke coming from the tailpipe, no starty. 2nd attempt, crank again, no starty again. Third attempt, turned the key, glow plug light was on, and KABOOM!!!!
. Sounded like a cannon shot throught the entire campground. Turned the key again and this time it started up. The park ranger came by thinking that a propane tank had exploded, at least that's what they said it sounded like from across the campsite at the ranger station. I'm sure that was a nice alarm clock for everyone
Anyway, I'm home and this morning I hooked up my multimeter to the GPR and cycled the key on. Sure enough, my "new" GPR is acting up. It either doesn't come on, or when it finally clicks on, the voltage varies by quite a bit (6 to 11 volts). I've already checked my charging system and batteries. Everything works perfect there. All batteries and altenator are brand new as well. Looks like my glow plugs are working fine so far. I'll replace the GPR today and double check everything.
Just thought I would share my story with everyone.
