Boost gauge install

Greetings all,
Have been doing some reading on our sponsors web sites and have gotten a bit confused as to the best way to hook up a boost gauge. Some say purchase the AIH delete plug with the tap off for contecting at that point. Then I read if I delete the AIH I should put in a pig tail that will prevent me from getting an error code in the computer. (=more $)
I also read that by splicing into the existing boost line I could be reading lower than actual boost values.

Can someone PLEASE get me headed in the right direction on this? I want to do this right the first time without wasting time and $$$

My plan for the future is a 4 position chip from Jody, just so ya'all to know where I'm heading on this.

I currently live in Texas but Uncle Sam (USAF) seems to want to move me every now and then, so my next local may be up north in the cold. Will deleting the AIH affect cold weather service?

Thanks all and happy fathers day!

I did the AIH plug for my boost gauge. Just unhooked the red wire and left the blue wire hooked to its original location. AIH only comes into operation when idling for extended times at temps below 30* to elimiate white smoke. May throw a code but not an SES light.

I used the AIH delete plug w/boost port. Worked great, I live in Iowa and I noticed no ill effects in cold weather.

I have "early 99" model and I didn't find AIH on it.
After trying all the existing connectors on the intake to not work, I drilled and tapped a hole on the horn to get a good pickup.
With tools ready and DeWalt driver the actual job took about 4 minutes.

I have also used the AIH delete plug/boost fitting and mine came with a little resistor wire that keeps the code from happening. I didn't care to much about the AIH since I live in San Diego though.

I am planning on doing the same thing and being up north didn't want to deal with codes. Check out this thread for help:

And being up north for the USAF ain't to bad just try to stay out of SPACECOM if you can these guys are wacked.

Good Luck
