Ok, what ive got is a 95 ex cab F-150, and my question................When im running the fan on any speed through the dash vents, it instead starts blowing through the defroster whenever I put a load on the engine.
This happens with A/C , heat, or just outside air and usually in overdrive when climbing a slight hill on the freeway. It will blow back through the front vents as soon as I let up on the gas and the load is relieved off the engine.
This is only a slight annoyance but I would still like to fix it. Anyone have this problem before?
I think I fixed it. The white (brittle) vacuum hose near the RF hood hinge where it goes into the cab through the harness was cracked. I replaced a section with 5/64th rubber vacuum hose and it seems to be OK. Thanks!
I have the exact same problem with the '94 F150 I purchased a few weeks ago. I didn't know it was doing it until I was running down the highway and turned on the A/C. I will check the same vacuum hose to see if this is also my problem. I am also having a problem with a slight miss in the engine. Could this vacuum hose also be the cause of that miss? I have been thinking the problem is a vacuum hose but haven't been able to find a leak anywhere. Thanks for the help.
Collins 150, same problem exactly with my '97 F-150. Hey Subford...looks like the diagram has been removed. Any idea where another version of this might be located? thx in advance.

I do not know where you can get one for a 1997, the one that was in this thread is good up through 1996 and may be the same for 1997.
It was removed to keep diagrams and pictures to a minimum on my posts because they take up so much space (bandwidth) on the FTE's servers. This site is so large and grows so quickly that it has trouble keeping up with the load.
Well I found my problem. The vacuum lines on the '97 run right behind the battery. There was a black line that had popped out of the elbow fitting. Additionally, looks like the battery has been weeping acid onto the lines for quite some time. One of the rubber lines had a partial hole eaten into it causing a slight leak. Put the small black line back into the fitting and replaced the vacuum hose that was leaking. Problem solved. Thanks subford for the diagram. It helped narrow down my search.
