Im wondering what MFI is and will it matter if I have an EFI engine if I want to install a K&N intake. I notice that they say the intake is for 4.0L SOHC MFI, gas V6. But like i said mine says EFI????? what is this saying and am not able to use the aftermarket intake??? Thanks
MFI and SFI are sub-categories of EFI. Both are electronically controlled fuel injection systems. Mulitport will fire all the injectors on a bank (right ir left) at the same time where Sequential will fire just one injector at a time for what ever cylinder is on the intake stroke.
Ford switched from MFI to SFI on most or all the 4.0's by 1994. Your SOHC would be a SFI type of EFI.
The ad for the K&N intake is likely in error and should just say EFI. Either way it makes no difference as the intake will work the same on any type of EFI system. I've got one on my SFI 4.0.
