deck height
For all you 429/460 gurus, what year was it they increased the deck height 72 or 73? I know 68-71 429-460 was suppose to be differant,in 72 they dropped the compression to 8:5:1 cr in 73 8:0:1 I was just wondering what year Ford increased the deck height? Also what was the deck height clearance in the 1972 429? Ive searched everwhere online but no answers.

the D1VE blocks had an increased deck hieght, so it was actually increased in 71, the decrease in compression in 72 was due to increasing the combustion chamber size of the heads from 75 to 100cc, then it went to 95cc in 73. I believe but without looking can't remember for sure but the 71 and 72 blocks had a 10.310, then in 73 it went to 10.322, the difference is in the suffix's of the casting number.
