350's- one S/C, one King Ranch Crew. We don't order much in the way of 250's anymore- not enough of a difference in truck or pirice.
I agree with you 100% as far as the price from Ford. HOWEVER, in my case, I got smacked big-time with my county property taxes because it is a designated X30 vehicle. The tax on my F350, although it is a 2wd, gas, extended cab, is nearly double what an F250 would have been.
I pleaded my case to the local tax assessor. I was told that I drive a big-ol honkin' one ton truck. I told him that my "Big'ol honkin' one ton" is far lighter than 99% of what is on our roads around here: Diesel, 4wd, crew cab, and quite often long bed. I saw the writing on the wall, smiled at him and said: "Well, I guess I have to pay to play."
I then inquired about my fifth wheel, which was delivered last week. I was told it is in the exact same tax category as my one ton. However, if my fifth wheel had a motor (i.e. Class A), then it would be taxed at the rate of an F250. That made no sense to me.
Whatever, I would not change my decision from a 350 to a 250. I pulled my 11,000 lb fiver for the first time last Sunday. Life is good! I will post more, with pics, later.
In Oregon there is no property taxes, and licensing is determined by the vehicle configuration, not the GVW. For example, a 10,000 lb GVW cab-chassis will have commercial plates, while a 11,400 lb GVW pickup can run on conventional plates.
We are going to fatten up a bit on V10 inventory, since we anticipate this motor will not resurface in the '08 lineup after the 1st of the year.
